Yanmar solutions for motor pumps, high efficiency irrigation

Yanmar provides four propulsion units in the agromechanical segment that focus on irrigation applications and the general movement of water resources. This segment has become increasingly critical in recent years due to the challenges posed by climate change, particularly regarding the more frequent and impactful water crises affecting larger areas. In this context, pump engines represent an indispensable solution, necessary for both routine agricultural activities and emergency situations that require engines designed to operate pumping mechanisms, ensuring complete and continuous operational capacity in all environmental conditions, while minimizing maintenance intervals and ensuring high energy efficiency.

The four models that Yanmar offers for this application segment consist of three-cylinder and fourcylinder units, with the former featuring natural aspiration belonging to the “3Tnv88F” series with a displacement of 1.64 liters. Available in the “Esgn” version, with direct fuel supply via a mechanical injection system, and the “Dsa” version, with common rail fuel supply, they provide sustainable power outputs of 24 and 37 horsepower respectively, thanks to their mechanics designed for maximum operational reliability. The same reliability applies to the two-liter, four-cylinder engines from the “4Tnv88C-Dsa” series, delivering 48 horsepower, and the “4Tnv98C-Nsa” series, with a displacement of 3.31 liters and 70 horsepower.

The higher-power engines share the ability to operate autonomously, even without direct supervision, made possible by dedicated technical solutions, including a sophisticated DPF filter regeneration system and three-stage emission management groups. This function is automatically assisted without interrupting operations, limiting the reset regeneration to the minimum necessary to minimize related fuel consumption. The use of stationary regeneration is even rarer, occurring at a fixed engine speed of 1,500 RPM for about 30 minutes only if the DPF filter shows severe clogging.

Regenerations performed automatically

Thanks to this technology, Yanmar pump engines can operate for at least 6,000 hours without the need for maintenance while consistently keeping their emissions in line with Stage V regulations. These engines are also compatible with future “HVO” fuels, made from hydrotreated vegetable oils and compliant with the EN15940 standard. HVO fuels are considered a sustainable alternative to fossil-derived diesel, as their use significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions and contributes to combating climate change.

Additionally, some models are available with silencing systems to make the engines suitable for continuous operation in noise-sensitive environments, such as urban residential areas.
