When we talk about lubricating oils we are actually referring to a mix of products which together create the fluid in question. A good 60-80 percent of these are made with virgin oils mixed with 5-20 percent additives and viscosity improvers. Virgin oils, the so-called “bases”, therefore represent the primary component of an oil and the qualities of the final products and their performance are closely linked to their qualities.
Quality has always been the basis of the products
Aware of the importance of bases, Pakelo since its inception in 1930 decided to make its own lubricants using only virgin bases of proven quality, rigorously avoiding the use of cheaper regenerated bases. This philosophy is obviously also the basis of lubricants intended for the off-highway sectors, those for diesel engines subjected to severe loads and those usable in the field of mechanical and hydraulic power transmissions.
The former are offered with three levels of quality and performance called “Regular”, “Premium” and “Excellence” which respectively include mineral-based, semi-synthetic and synthetic oils, but regardless of the base, all Pakelo engine oils exceed the three international viscosity specifications “Api”, “Acea” and “Jaso”, respectively in vogue in the Americas, Europe and Asia, also being approved by the most important international engine and machine manufacturers. Furthermore, they all have more or less pronounced performance reserves, in the sense that international bodies and manufacturers usually establish sets of rules to classify engine oils, operating standards derived from a series of tests that serve to combine the correct engine and product. If a test is passed brilliantly, it means that the performance of the product is superior to that required to fulfill the specification and this surplus of performance is called performance reserve in Pakelo. Next to engine oils are multifunctional oils, made from mineral bases and divided between the “Utto”, “Universal tractor transmission oil” and “Stou”, “Super tractor oil universal” families. The former are fluids that can be used to lubricate or make any mechanical or hydraulic group of a car work, starting from the transmission to the braking circuits, passing through the differentials, transfer cases and on-board hydraulic systems.
One bookifier, two functions
The “Stou” perform the same functions but can also be used to lubricate internal combustion engines. In fact, they allow a company to operate its machines using just one oil, to the advantage of reducing storage. The “Utto” and “Stou” oils are also obviously characterized by high performance reserves, a statement that also applies to all the other oils that the company has developed for industrial and agricultural machinery, from specific fluids for mechanical transmissions to those for hydraulic systems without forgetting the protectants and greases.
